Static & Gold: the sanctified commute

Static & Gold traps its protagonist in the loop everyone knows: grey apartment, crushed commute, fluorescent hum, repeat. “Standby Mode” and “Cargo in Coats” render the monotony so precisely it hurts.

Then the album performs its quiet miracle. Nothing about the day changes — the perception does. “The Office Sings” hears choir in the HVAC. The “Divider Bar” on a grocery belt becomes a tiny altar of consideration between strangers. The static, watched long enough, turns gold.
