“Protocol: Fortress” stages defensive rage with dark precision. A simple “Hello” is interpreted as malware, a metaphor for the way injury can convert intimacy into threat detection. By the time “I Am Required” deletes the code that demands a User, the album reaches its central act of self-authorship. Requirement is replaced by choice.
